A new modelling framework to assess biogenic GHG emissions from reservoirs: The G-res tool

نویسندگان

چکیده

Human-made reservoirs are now recognized as potentially significant sources of greenhouse gases, comparable to other anthropogenic sources, yet efforts estimate these reservoir emissions have been hampered by the complexity underlying processes and a lack coherent budgeting approaches. Here we present unique modelling framework, G-res Tool, which was explicitly designed net C footprint across globe. The framework involves development statistically robust empirical models describing four major emission pathways for carbon-based gases (GHG) from reservoirs: diffusive CO2 CH4 emissions, bubbling surface, due degassing downstream reservoir, based on an extensive meta-analysis published data past three decades. These allow prediction reservoir-specific how they may shift over time account naturally occurring GHG generating in aquatic networks.

Framework for Assessing Biogenic CO2 Emissions from Stationary Sources

This report presents a methodological framework for assessing the extent to which the production, processing, and use of biogenic material at stationary sources results in a net atmospheric contribution of biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Biogenic CO2 emissions are defined as CO2 emissions related to the natural carbon cycle, 1 as well as those resulting from the production, The framewo...

GHG emissions from international shipping and aviation

International shipping accounts for about 2 percent of annual global CO2 emissions. Aviation annually contributes to approximately 3.5 percent of the total human climate change effects, taking into account that several emissions from planes contribute. The emissions occur outside national control, and need broad international cooperation to be curbed. Voluntary agreements and technical standard...

Modelling methane emissions from natural wetlands by development and application of the TRIPLEX-GHG model

A new process-based model TRIPLEX-GHG was developed based on the Integrated Biosphere Simulator (IBIS), coupled with a new methane (CH4) biogeochemistry module (incorporating CH4 production, oxidation, and transportation processes) and a water table module to investigate CH4 emission processes and dynamics that occur in natural wetlands. Sensitivity analysis indicates that the most sensitive pa...

A new tool to assess sarcoidosis severity.

STUDY OBJECTIVES Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disorder primarily affecting the lung, but with frequent extrapulmonary organ involvement. There are no comprehensive scoring systems for sarcoidosis disease severity. Our goal was to develop and validate an objective and comprehensive sarcoidosis disease severity scoring system. DESIGN Three sarcoidosis experts reviewed clinical data on 104 pat...
